The Beginning of golden era, 1970
1970 had 21 singles topped the Billboard single chart. Opened with B.J. Thomas "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head" on Jan 3 and Closed with "My Sweet Lord" by George Harisson on Des 26.
The longgest number one hits is Paul Simon's masterpiece "Bridge Over Trouble Water" which stayed for 6 weeks from Feb 28 to April 4. This single is also my fav from 70's #1 along with Carpenters' "(They Long To Be) Close To You", "Mama Told Me (Not To Come)" - Three Dog Night, "Make It With You" - Bread and "Venus" - Shocking Blue.
